Production Stage Manager and Assistant Stage Manager - EBE Ensemble

WHEN: This position begins on March 8, the first day of tech.The show runs March 10 - 20, 2010. You must be available for tech; 12noon - midnight on Monday, March 8, 10 AM - 10 PM on March 9; 12noon - 5 PM on March 10; and then for all performances (7 - 10 PM 3/10-14 & 3/17-20; 2 - 5 PM 3/14 & 3/20).

COMPENSATION: There will be a small stipend for both PSM and ASM positions.

Last year's festival received two nominations and a win for best New Short Play in the 2009 New York Innovative Theater Awards.

Box Office Manager - Signature Theatre Company

SEEKING: a full time Box Office Manager to oversee point of sales operations and customer service for the organization.

Assistant Director - Misfit Toys Repertory Company

SEEKING: Assistant Director to participate in the development of a new comedy about Shakespeare's actors, The King's Men.

Misfit Toys has been developing the play and is now ready to schedule a staged reading and late Spring production in NYC.

RESPONSIBILITIES: cooperative directorial responsibilities, some dramaturgy, providing honest feedback and holding tight to the director's leash. This is not a job for the meek but is a great opportunity for a student or early career director to gain some experience in directing, dramaturgy, and producing in the not-for-profit theatre world.

BENEFITS: There's no cash at the moment but the director always buys your coffee and is a good mentor; a stipend is possible when we go to production.

REQUIREMENTS: a true collaborator fearless in the face of broad comedy with some knowledge of Elizabethan theatre (very helpful), a reasonably flexible schedule, and an appreciation of cookies (that's kind of our thing).

Capital Projects/Government Relations Intern - The Public Theater

The Capital Projects and Government Relations Department is responsible for the construction and renovation projects as well as fundraising from government sources. Currently, the Public Theater is finishing the restoration of our Landmark façade and preparing for a major renovation of the first floor of 425 Lafayette Street.

The Capital Projects/Government Affairs intern will join this two-person department, gaining experience primarily in government fundraising and project management.

RESPONSIBILITIES: assisting in the drafting/editing of government grant applications, reports, & correspondence; contacting city and state government offices for information/ meeting scheduling; maintaining government contacts in Tessitura database; entering/tracking financial data; light filing and clerical work. Requirements: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint; experience with Tessitura is a plus.

Development Director (Part time) - Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival

WHO: Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival is a critically-acclaimed non-profit theater producing three plays each summer at Boscobel in Garrison, NY, with extensive year-round education programs.

SEEKING: We seek a dynamic person for this new position to provide leadership, strategic direction, management and coordination for all fundraising efforts. He/she will work with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to create and implement fundraising strategies that increase the organization's support from individuals, corporations, foundations, government and other sources. Emphasis on donor identification and cultivation and working with Board on fund development.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.  Overall planning and implementation of development activities

a)     Work with the Executive Director and the Board to develop an annual fundraising plan that includes goals and strategies for individual, corporate, foundation and government sources.

b)     Serve as the key staff support to the Development Committee of the Board, including management of fundraising events.

c)     Create reports that help with analysis and strategy, including periodic progress reports and gift histories.

d)     Maintain ongoing favorable relations with funders and make personal contact with major funders in conjunction with the Executive Director, the Artistic Director  and/or  members of the  Board.

2. Individual Donors

a)     Work with the Executive Director and Board to develop and implement strategies for major individual gift solicitations and capital campaigns.

b)     Organize and educate Board and Advisory Board members in solicitation and donor cultivation campaigns.

c)     Be responsible for the management and implementation of direct mail, telefundraising, subscription add-on and online giving campaigns, including the development of benchmarking methods for evaluating these campaigns.

d)     Track and analyze overall and appeal-specific efforts using fundraising software and make recommendations for increasing results.

e)     Develop plans for identification and cultivation of promising prospects at all levels of the donor base.

3. Foundation, Corporate and Government Fundraising

a)     Work with Grants Manager on identifying potential funding sources; grant and sponsorship proposals; timely completion of reports to funders and renewals.

b)     Make personal contact with funders and maintain ongoing favorable relations in conjunction with the Executive and Artistic Directors and/or members of the Board.

4. Community Relations

a)     Represent HVSF as a spokesperson at community and funder-sponsored events, and other speaking opportunities.

b)     Develop newsletters to serve as a fundraising tool.

WHEN: Part-time (flexible 24 hours per week) with possibility of becoming full-time in future.  Job starts 3/1/2010.

REQUIREMENTS: Minimum 3-5 years experience with major gift solicitation, prospect research, sponsorships, development systems/operations. B.A./B.S; proficiency in Word/Excel; PowerPoint desirable. Knowledge of fundraising databases. Ability to write in a clear and compelling fashion. High energy, positive attitude; eagerness to work as part of a dynamic small management team. Local area resident preferred.
