Happy Holidays from The Producer’s Perspective.
You all know how I feel about Christmas Cards, so I hope you'll accept this blog as my best wishes for a wonderful holiday season.
I was going to make a donation to my favorite charity on behalf of all of you. But then I thought . . . shouldn't the donation be to your favorite charity?
Tell me your favorite charity by commenting below and on Monday, I'll whack up the amount I was going to give on your behalf between all of them.
Happy Holidays!

GMHC (Gay Men’s Health Crisis) – They help the community all year round.
Hey Ken,
I put it to my family, and they like the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee—there’s a specific project, called the “Sisisky-Salky & Friends of Ethiopia Water Project,” that’s putting a well in a community in Ethiopia. Their web address is https://www.jdc.org/donation/donate.aspx?type=JOYS
Thanks! Hope you and yours are having a great holiday.
Will
BCEFA
TDF
WWF
All the best to you and yours.
I recommend Mazon — An excellent food distribution organization. (www.mazon.org)
You are a wonderful person for doing this! Thank you so much! Happy Holidays!
David
United Social Services, Inc. (a nonprofit affiliated with the NY Society for Ethical Culture)
2 West 64th St., NY, NY 10023
They run a homeless shelter, do free supervised visations for families in need, run sports and arts programs, and many other worthy deeds.
Thanks for your generosity, Ken! This is even better than the Starbucks gift card you sent at Tony time.
Hi Ken,
Thanks for your generosity! I would like to recommend two charities: Food Bank for NYC and the Ali Forney Center. Thank you very much for doing this.
UNICEF is my favorite. I’ve done a lot of work for them. Thank you, and happy holidays!
Hi, Ken–
Pandas International–there are so few of them remaining and they are amazing animals when you watch them over time.
CharityWater.org – hands down.
Happy Jolly Merry to ya Ken and to all the fellow blog readers out there!
If you’re in the giving spirit, consider giving to the Association of Adult Musicians with Hearing Loss (http://www.aamhl.org/joomla10/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=21) It’s a very small but growing organization that helps people with hearing loss enjoy music and/or make music. [full disclosure: I'm on the board]
For a larger organization with similar goals, consider VSA Arts (http://www.vsarts.org/) They help all kinds of artists with disabilities–blind painters, disabled dancers, etc.–continue to create and present work.
Thanks for a great blog and for your generous spirit!

The New york public library is by far my favorite charity. Not only do they supply books, they have free use of computers, show movies and have dvd’s and cd’s to borrow. A precious resource.
How about the Make-A-Wish Foundation?
Thanks Ken! You’re a total mensch!
Youth in the Arts Inc – http://www.YouthInTheArts.org
Just sent you a quick email explaining the organization, thanks so much!
I like a lot of different charities but for this blog I’d go with TDF. They are building audiences for today and tomorrow.
Foodbanknyc (www.Foodbanknyc.org) and Thank you.
ASPCA
Thanks Ken. That’s great.
My request would be to
THE ACTORS’ FUND
and/or
EQUITY FIGHTS AIDS
But truly to the ACTORS FUND for they are showing such support to David right now in his time of need.
Thanks
JACK DYVILLE
Current favorite charity:
Cell Phones for Soldiers

All the best to you.
Kitty Angels (A No kill shelter for cats in MA/NH)

great idea… thanks!
Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. This is my second time raising funds for them through their Team in Training endurance event training program and they really do stand up work to support those with blood cancers. My personal donation page is http://www.trikimtri.com. Or BC/EFA always holds a place in my heart. Thanks for doing this Ken.
A very genuine and nice idea! Re the donation: anything that helps kids with disabilities gets my vote. Happy New Year! John Lallis
Mine is Masterwork Productions, Inc. (www.masterworkproductions.org), specifically the Artists Helping Hand Fund which helps artists with financial needs.
How nice are you ! In response to you, Ken and Mr. John Lallis here, I just incorporated a non-profit theatre and educational organization to promote disability awareness (www.touchinghumanityinc.org)so…would it be not cool to say please donate to Touching Humanity, Inc. so we can begin developing courses, classes and do some quality work to forward the “can do” message for people with disabilities?
You’ve made a generous offer in the best Christmas tradition. I’ve been supporting the Doe Fund (http://www.doe.org/) that supports those gentlemen in blue uniforms who you see cleaning up the streets of New York and other cities. They are recruited from the homeless and street cleaning is just the first step in a program that returns them to the lives of responsible citizenry. Thanks for the good wishes and let’s hope 2009 is a better year for all
Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids (BC/EFA), of course. :] Thank you for doing this.
You’re awesome.
And this is an awesome charity:

I’m just catching up – what a lovely idea! My charity of choice at the moment is Smile Train. Happy holidays!
My favorite charity has been – for ten years – my own poor, dated, “everything gets broken by teenagers” theatre at my high school. I spend so much of my own money on props, costumes, set pieces, etc., it’s ridiculous! I know this isn’t the typical charity you speak of, but we reach upwards of 250-300 kids per year and we change lives. My theatre is a family to many, diverse teens, and those kids keep coming back to visit years after they graduate. I am thankful for my meaningful career.
