SEEKING: Artistic Director
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage the daily general, artistic and acrobatic operations of the performers and the artistic team (coaches, physiotherapists, General Stage Manager and their staff );
Plan, prepare and follow up with regard to training sessions, rehearsals, Tapis Rouge, etc.;
Ensure that the show meets and maintains the high quality standards established at the time of the stabilization of the work in terms of artistic and acrobatic performance and the initial staging, choreography, cues, musical score, costumes, make-up, lighting and sound design;
At the request of the Head Artistic Director, implement and follow up on the artistic, acrobatic and technical adjustments and modifications to various components of the show;
Make recommendations to the Head Artistic Director for any artistic and acrobatic changes or adjustments needed for the maintenance of the show and its performers;
Organize the integration of new performers and new acts into the show, as well as performers returning to full duty after medical rehabilitation, so as to maintain high acrobatic and artistic standards;
Communicate with all performers and makes sure they are familiar with and up to date on the show bible and the specifics of their respective roles and cues, in order to maintain a high level of artistic performance;
With the collaboration of the coaches and physios, keep records on each performer and member of the artistic team, in terms of artistic progress, attitude and behaviour, for the yearly evaluation with the Head Artistic Director and the attribution of salary increases and performance bonuses;
Prepare the artistic budget under the direction of the Head Artistic Director, and present it to the Company Manager;
Prepare the Artistic Report on a weekly basis and send it to the Head Artistic Director;
Organize and follow up on meetings with the artistic team on a regular basis;
All other duties as assigned by the Head Artistic Director and/or Company Manager.
REQUIREMENTS:
College diploma in drama, dance, acrobatics, or a related artistic or production field, or a university degree in physical education or a related field, or relevant work experience;
A minimum of six years in live show management (or equivalent experience, for example as an artist), in stage shows, or in any form of art (in a mid-size to major company), in an international context;
Multicultural and touring experience, an asset;
Fluency in English, both written and spoken; knowledge of written and spoken French is a major asset;
Leadership;
Excellent observational and communication skills (verbal and written);
Ability to work long hours under pressure;
Ability to maintain a good working environment with peers and performers while enjoying a proper professional relationship;
Autonomy, initiative and flexibility;
Good computer skills;
Available to work in the United States.
