The Sunday Giveaway: 2 Tickets to Russian Transport at The New Group
This week we're giving away two tickets to the recently extended Russian Transport at The New Group starring funny girl and Saturday Night Live alum, Janeane Garofalo!
Russian Transport is about an immigrant couple running a struggling car service while, "trying to carve out the American Dream for their teenagers."
Classic 'root for the underdog' story, right?
Well, when Uncle Boris moves in, that story takes a unique turn.
And one of you is going to find out what that turn is when you win your free tickets to see the show.
Here's how to enter to win.
Comedians and more specifically Saturday Night Live comedians have a history of making great hollywood actors: Billy Crystal, Steve Martin, Dan Akryoyd are just three of them who have gone on to great careers in comic roles and dramatic as well.
So here's my query:
What Saturday Night Live star would you like to see on Broadway and in what show?
Cast that SNLer in a show in a comment below and I'll pick one who'll win the tix.
Go!
(Got a comment? I love 'em, so comment below! Email subscribers, click here, then scroll down, to say what's on your mind!)

Maya Rudolph is hilarious. She’d be great in a David Ives piece.
I think it would be amazing to see Kristen Wiig recreate Gilda Radner’s one woman show, “Gilda Radner – Live From New York” It would be a difficult and careful task to not simply have her do all the bits, but create a show that is an homage to the original without simply being a straight-up impersonation.
I’ll do you one even better and jump on the idea of rotating casts from your blog about theatre in Japan and rotate Kristin, Maya Rudolph and Molly Shannon in the show. All three ladies are amazing comediennes and are strong enough to do justice to Gilda’s memory and comedy.
For those of you who haven’t had the privilege of seeing this, it was filmed:

http://youtu.be/64jfKo3vKtE

Kristen Wiig in Funny Girl.
Gilda Radner as Bananas and Bill Murray as Artie in “House of Blue Leaves.”
I’d love to see SNL alum Christine Ebersole as Vera Simpson in PAL JOEY.
Amy Poehler in a one-woman version “the Producers”. It might not make sense, but just think about it…
Tina Fey in Sweet Charity.
If her friends could see her now.
Rachel Dratch in Sylvia
Bill Hader would be awesome in other Desert Cities, if I’m gonna go with a current cast member in a current show.
Christopher Guest as Bernadette in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert
Bill Hader as Tupolski in THE PILLOWMAN.
Mike Myers as Linda Richman as Mama Rose
Ana Gasteyer in Wicked. Oh, wait…
Eddie Murphy in The Producers. Box Office Gold.
Andy Samberg in Little Shop of Horrors would be fun.
I’d love to see A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum with Adam Sandler as Psudelous and Andy Samburg as Hysterium.
@gerryinwp would have liked to see Tina Rey as Fanny Brice in “Funny Girl” (but, of course, she’d be funny girl)
Ana Gasteyer in Funny Girl
Chris Rock in Malcom X: The Musical!
Dennis Miller in “Seminar”
I also would love to see Bill Murray’s take on the part of Logue in “The King’s Speech”
Ana Gasteyer and Kristen Wiig in almost anything.
Bill Murray in:
Groundhog Day, The Musical
or
Scrooge(d) … no need to re-do Anthony Newly’s version, so let’s do an updated version of Murray’s movie role in Scrooged, for the Holiday season!
I would like to see Mike Myers do a remake of “Wayne’s World” as a Broadway show!
Little Shop of Horrors with Andy Samberg as Seymour; Steve Martin or Will Farrell as dentist; Kenan Thompson as plant or Mr Musnik and Nasim Pedtra as Audrey;
Fanstatics with: Bobby Moynihand as Mute
Bill Hader as El Gallo
Luisa-Abbey Elliot
Matt- Justin Timberlake
Hucklebee-Chevy Chase
Bellomy-Jason Sedakis
Henry- Steve Martin
Fred Armisen as Mortimer
How about the “Boston Teens” in “How to Succeed in Business,” with Jimmy Fallon, Ben Afleck, Rachel Dratch, and Horatio Sanz.
Molly Shannon in “Sister Act”
– now she could play a few different roles in the show because she’s JUST THAT GOOD!
She’s always been my fave (well maybe because she has my name lol)
Bill Hader: The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
Ana Gasteyer as Diana in ‘Next to Normal.’ She has the voice and I know there’s a dramatic actor under there.
Jane Curtain as Amanda Wingfield
Kristen Wiig as Laura Wingfield
Tennessee Williams
The Glass Menagerie
Molly Shannon as Mary Katherine Gallagher in “My Fair Lady” as Eliza Doolittle. And of course adding a scene so she could destroy the set!
David Spade as Bobby in Company
Christine Ebersole (she used to be a regular on SNL) as Dolly in HELLO, DOLLY!
Julia Lois Dreyfus and Brad Hall in They’re Playing Our Song
I for one would love to see Mike Myers play the title role “Hamlet”… I think he would find all the humor, the irony, and dark pain, and there is nothing more touching than a clown at his depths of loss and despair. I also read somewhere that he was very attached to his father and devastated by his passing; he’s divine and would be divinely dimensional in this.

I would love to see Bill Murray in the Odd Couple. Oscar Madison would be the perfect part for him!
Chevy Chase as J.B. Biggley
in “How To Succeed.”
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler in a female cast ODD COUPLE
Gerald Butler in Phantom of the Opera
Rachel Dratch as Agnes Gooch in “Mame”.
Gilda Radner as Winnifred in “Once Upon a Mattress”
Maya Rudolph as Fantine
I would love to see an all star SNL cast in Angels in America: Millennium Approaches by Mr. Tony Kushner. I would cast Cheri Oteri (95-00) as Rabbi Chemelwitz, Henry, Hannah Pitt, and Ethel Rosenberg, because the petite comedian can do anything. Wouldn’t you love to see her in full Orthodox gear? Seth Myers (02-Present) would play Joe Pitt, Prior 1, and Eskimo because he has the cute, boy next door look, and his dimples make you melt. Prior could easily fall in love with him. Julia Louis-Dreyfus (82-85) would play Harper Pitt and Martin Heller, because her subtlety is so specific. Elaine on Seinfeld was crazy, so I’m sure giving Julia a drug-educed character would be a walk in the park, all puns intended. Rachel Dratch (99-06) would play Roy Cohn and Prior 2, because she is the most androgynous cast member (too bad Tilda Swinton wasn’t a cast member), and would be hilarious ripping Seth Myers a new one as Roy. Robert Downey, Jr. (85-86) would play Louis Ironson. Robert’s played a Black man, so why can’t he play a Jewish man? Plus, he’s pretty. This is a dream cast, so why not play. Jane Curtin (75-80) would play Emily, Ella Chapter, The Woman in the South Bronx, and The Angel. Wouldn’t you love to see her rock it in the sex scene, with Kristen Wiig (05-Present) as Prior Walter and Man in Park. I would of course ask Mr. Kushner if we could make Prior a transvestite, because Kristen could really pull out an academy award with this role. Depression, anxiety, death, hallucinations, and religion, I think Kristen would be marvelous. I would also ask Mr. Kushner if Belize could be Latino, with Horatio Sanz playing Prior’s counterpart and Mr. Lies. Who doesn’t love Horatio, and all his sass?
Andy Samberg as Charlie in MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG.
Tina Fey in Mamma Mia
Bill Murray in “Deathtrap.”
