Seeking Director/Choreographer for Summer Stars (kids)

The Astoria Performing Arts Center is seeking a Director/Choreographer to lead its Summer Stars Program – a performance program for children between the ages of 8-13.

The Director/Choreographer will work with a Musical Director to develop an original show. Daily rehearsals for two weeks will culminate in two public performances. Approximately 25 children will take part. Duties will include writing/creating a final script for performance, planning a variety of theatre/improv games, working with a small budget/design team to prepare for the performance.

The right candidate will be high energy, creative and patient. Prior experience working with children is required.

This is a paid position.

Schedule
Auditions: Saturday, August 3rd, 10:00am-3:00pm
Rehearsals: Monday-Friday, August 13- 24, 10:00am-4:00pm
Tech/Dress/Performances – All day Saturday, August 25th

Astoria Performing Arts Center is an 11-year old nonprofit theater company in Astoria, Queens. In addition to producing award-winning mainstage shows, and developing new works of theater, APAC offers free community programs for children and senior citizens. Summer Stars is the longest running of those programs – this will be the 10th summer in a row that APAC has offered the program.
