Auditions: Fancy Nancy – Vital Theatre Company
Vital Theatre Company is actively seeking a bright, lively cast for the opening show of their new season, FANCY NANCY. Book and Lyrics by Susan DiLallo, Music and Lyrics by Danny Abosch and Directed by Sam Viverito.
Fancy Nancy and her friends, Bree, Rhonda, Wanda, and Lionel are going to be performing in their very first show, “Deep Sea Dances.” Nancy is positive, that’s fancy for 100 percent sure, that she and Bree will be picked to be mermaids. When another girl wins the coveted role of the mermaid, Nancy is stuck playing a dreary, dull tree. Can Nancy bring fancy flair to her role, even though it isn’t the one she wanted? Fancy Nancy is based on the popular book series of the same name, created by Jane O’Connor.
Seeking strong singers with excellent comedic timing and true warmth for the following roles:
FANCY NANCY: Adult Female Actress to play 8. Fancy Nancy is a precocious, sophisticated 8 year old with charm and spunk. She loves tea parties, dressing up, and speaking in French. She also loves teaching everyone around her how to be fancy just like her. She learns a few valuable lessons, when things don’t go her way with the casting of the school show. Strong Mezzo-Soprano mix.
NANCY’s MOM:. Nancy’s Mom is very different from her daughter. A bit more down to earth, but super understanding to Nancy and her plight. She tries very hard to appease her daughter’s fascination with fanciness, even though it doesn’t come naturally to her. Most of all, she just wants Nancy to find happiness. Warm Alto or Mezzo mix.
BREE: Adult Female actor to play 8. Bree is Nancy’s very best friend. She loves to learn fanciness from Nancy and play dress up throw tea parties. She is loyal and understanding, but when Bree winds up in the fanciest role in the school play, Nancy is feeling down. So Bree does her best to turn the situation around and be a good friend. Sweet Mezzo Sop mix.
LIONEL: Adult male actor to play 8. Lionel is the fun loving, quirky, class clown. He is very energetic and doesn’t always like to play at being fancy, but is definitely always ready for fun. Plucky tenor with great comedic timing.
RHONDA: Adult Female actress to play 8. Twin sister to Wanda! Although Rhonda and Wanda love their friend, Nancy, they are less into tea parties and way more into sports! Still they are supportive to Nancy and open to her Fancy lessons. Belter with great comedic timing.
WANDA: Adult Female actress to play 8. Twin sister to Rhonda! Although Rhonda and Wanda love their friend, Nancy, they are less into tea parties and way more into sports! Still they are supportive to Nancy and open to her Fancy lessons. Belter with great comedic timing.
