Who is the Broadway Investor? Let’s find out.
So . . . who invests in Broadway shows, anyway?
Where are they from? What do they do for a living? And do they watch Homeland?
Aren’t you curious?
You should be.
Every Broadway Producer or Someday-Broadway-Producer should want to find more investors. The more investors you have, the more diverse shows you can do, the more art and artists you can support, the more risk you can take, the more people you can employ, and so on.
So what’s the trick to finding more investors?
Well, before you go out looking for something . . . anything . . . you gotta know where to look, right? If you’re looking for a needle in a haystack . . . you at least have to know where the dang haystack is!
So if you’re looking for Broadway investors or Broadway ticket-buyers . . . heck , even if you’re looking for new friends . . . you have to find out who is already investing, already buying tickets . . . already your buddy, first. Then, when you figure out the similarities between the people that are already doing what you want them to do . . . you can then look for more people just like them. Because obviously that demographic group has a natural tendency to complete the action you want them to complete.
It’s simple marketing.
For example, if Star Trek fans are buying your tickets, then you target Star Trek fans. If your friends are all Red Sox rabids (Go Sox!), you should hang out at Red Sox bars. And if Broadway investors are 40-50 year old married couples from the Northeast who subscribe t0 the New York Magazine and love gardening . . . well, you better brush up on this week’s Approval Matrix and break out the damn hoe.
So how do you find out who the Broadway Investor really is?
And that’s what we’re going to do . . . right here . . . and right now. That’s right, I’m proud to introduce the very first ever Broadway Investor survey! (Honestly, I’m a bit surprised this hasn’t been done before.)
The link below will take you to a questionnaire (designed by research professionals) that asks for a bunch of relevant info from anyone that has ever invested in a Broadway show.
When I’ve got enough entries, I’ll put together a composite of the typical Broadway Investor and I will publish the results for all of us to see and learn from. Yep, soon enough, we’ll all have a picture of what our investors look like! And, we’ll also know how we can give them an even better experience! They’ll be happy. We’ll be happy. Win squared.
Oh, let me also say this . . . the survey is absolutely 100% anonymous. I’m not collecting any data whatsoever. This isn’t about getting names of potential investors. So if you are a Broadway Producer, please forward this survey on to your investors. I promise and guarantee, there is no way in all of the web that anyone . . . me, or some super hacker . . . could find out their info and reach out to them. And the more investors we have taking the survey, the more accurate a picture we can get? It’ll help us all. So thanks in advance!
