A show-within-a-show that imagines Noel Coward’s comic and sometimes dramatic struggle to write an honest biographical musical about the lives of his dearest friends, Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne (aka “The Lunts.”) After forty years in the ephemeral art of theatre and after thousands of performances, the Lunts are facing their own mortality and are wondering “was it all worth it?” And as we slowly discover who they really were, we find ourselves wondering “were they ever really off-stage?”
LOREN LESTER (Book & Lyrics) is the author of the play Will & Bess, the touring stage show It’s Magic: The Music of Doris Day, the web series Let’s Do Lunch! and several TV pilots and screenplays. Loren has also directed numerous plays, musicals, web series and operas and is a critic for the opera website www.schmopera.com. He is currently celebrating 42 years as a professional actor. More than 200 TV appearances include “The Orville”, “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” and three seasons on the HBO comedy series “Hung.” Films include Wes Craven’s “Red Eye” and the cult classic “Rock ‘N’ Roll High School.” Dozens of stage appearances in the L.A. area include Nancy Meckler’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream with the L.A. Philharmonic, Around the World in 80 Days at North Coast Rep, and Fallen Angels, at the Pasadena Playhouse. Loren has a large fan base due to his work over the last 25 years as the voice of “Robin” and “Nightwing” in Batman films, games and the iconic Batman: The Animated Series. He is a native of Los Angeles but currently resides in New York City. He is married to actress Kelly Lester and is the father of three actress-daughters.
JEFFREY SILVERMAN (Music) is a composer and music producer. As a theater composer, Jeffrey has had four musicals presented on the New York stage. Earlier in his career, Jeffrey conducted Broadway shows including Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Song and Dance starring Bernadette Peters and the original Broadway production of Les Miserables. He has composed for dozens of films and television projects. His music can be heard on virtually every cable and network channel including FOX, BRAVO, A&E, MTV, THE HISTORY CHANNEL, BIOGRAPHY, OWN, and TLC. His songs have been in the films The Rookie starring Dennis Quaid, Man of the Year starring John Ritter, and The Irishman. His film music, including the score for the silent film Sparrows (commissioned by Turner Classic Movies), has been performed by many European orchestras. The illustrious Detroit Symphony Orchestra played an evening of Jeffrey’s film music to a filled audience of 1,800. Jeffrey has sold over
100,000 CDs as the artist and co-producer of the popular DAVID RAINTREE series. Jeffrey has over a hundred recording projects to his credit. His talents as a record producer and orchestrator have garnered him three platinum records including his work with Yanni. Jeffrey is also the co-composer of over 50 songs for the Disney children’s series Mr. Hoot, and he also penned the theme (with co-composer Larry Blank) for the phenomenally successful Brazil Disney Club.
