WHO: Partial Comfort Productions is a collaborative ensemble devoted to the development and presentation of original new theater. The company was co-founded in 2002 by Chad Beckim and Molly Pearson. Past productions include Thomas Bradshaw’s The Bereaved, a trio of acclaimed works by Beckim (nami, The Maine Play and…a matter of choice), Ross Maxwell’s Open House (Best Ensemble Award winner at FringeNYC 2006); Craft, Bigger Man and Nelson by Sam Marks; Kidstuff by Edith Freni, Booty Candy by Robert O’Hara; and Play by OHara, Chay Yew, Kia Corthron, Eddie Sanchez, Keith Adkins and Tracey Scott Wilson. MORE DETAILS: Through well managed strategic and artistic growth, Partial Comfort has been able to continue expanding for the last 7 seasons and enters its 8th Season with real momentum.To continue and accelerate this growth, Partial Comfort is seeking a Development Director to work hand-in-hand with the Artistic Directors and Associate Producer, to provide leadership and management for the planning and execution of all development and sponsorship activities for the company. This will include, but is not limited to, the creation and implementation of a Development Plan that features Annual Giving, Major Gifts, Corporate partnerships and Donor Recognition. The Development Director will work closely with the Artistic and Production staff to create Donor Cultivation Events. This person will also oversee all grant writing and reporting.
SEEKING: Partial Comfort is small theater company and is looking for someone who will dive in and get to know our membership and our work – we are a real ensemble and embrace a community spirit and feel it is important our Development Director does not work in a vacuum. We are looking for a true team player who loves theater, can think and operate "out of the box", works well independently is excited by the challenges and opportunities presented by this position.
Please note this is a job where you can set your own hours, and work from home. There will be monthly meetings, and lots of emails and phone calls – but you will set your own hours and work schedule.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Knowledge and some practical experience with: Major donor solicitation, capital campaigns, grant writing, attracting new and growing donors, prospect research, corporate sponsorships and / or development systems and operations. We are willing to work with someone who is relatively new to Development yet strong writing skills and an understanding of grants is a must.
2. Proficiency in Word PowerPoint and Excel required; Knowledge of fundraising databases preferred.
3. Ability to write in a clear and compelling fashion.
4. High energy, creative and resourceful; enjoys challenging work. An eagerness to work collaboratively as part of a dynamic small management team. A sense of humor a real plus!
SALARY AND SCHEDULE: This is essentially a part time job – again, you will work from home, completing a weekly to-do list, but setting your own hours each week.
You will have a Development Intern assigned to assist you.
There is a stipend offered to this position, with planned incremental growth for each coming season.
