Intern (Part-Time) – The American Associates of The Old Vic

WHO: The Old Vic is about a great night out the moment you walk through the door.  Since Kevin Spacey became artistic director in 2004, The Old Vic has seen the most exciting theatrical talent create mesmerizing performances on its iconic 190-year old stage, including actors Jeff Goldblum, Diana Rigg, Richard Dreyfuss and Ian McKellen, and directors Matthew Warchus, Peter Gill and Peter Hall.  Beyond the productions, The Old Vic is also dedicated to nurturing emerging talent, through our award-winning ‘Old Vic New Voices’ education program for young actors, writers, directors and producers.  Since 2008, we have run a New York-specific arm of this program called the New Voices Network, featuring year round masterclasses and workshops for the very best theater practitioners aged 21 to 30.

SEEKING: We are looking for exceptional individuals to assist us with a variety of co-ordination and administrative challenges.


-Co-ordinating varied elements of our New Voices Network program – our year-round professional development program for New York-based actors, writers, directors and producers aged 21 to 30.  Many elements of this program are starting to be communicated via our new website: which presents us with a host of new challenges and opportunities.

-Assisting with the co-ordination and running of donor events

-Co-ordinating elements of our USUK Exchange program – an annual program which offers a week of transatlantic script development opportunities to emerging writers and directors.

-Assisting with general fundraising activity around the Bridge Project – our partnership with BAM

-Assisting with the administration of our American Associates membership program

MORE INFORMATION: In addition to gaining practical experience, this is a great opportunity to learn about theater in New York and London. There is no pay but we can provide interns with complimentary tickets to Old Vic New Voices events and Old Vic Theatre Company productions, as well as referrals, letters of recommendation and a course credit where applicable. 

TIME/WHEN: The role is part-time mornings from 9:30 am – 1:30 pm. To start as earlier as May 2010.

WHERE: American Associates of The Old Vic are based at 154 Grand Street between Lafayette and Centre Street.
