SEEKING: Fall Interns

ABOUT THE PROGRAM: Through mentorships, self-guided projects, tickets to performances, and interaction with Broadway and Off-Broadway professionals, interns gain insight and experience in the most dynamic arts environment in the world. Interns are active, fully-integrated members of our staff, and receive many opportunities for growth and learning. Internships can be structured for academic credit; please check with your school, college or university for guidelines.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

AUDIENCE PROJECT / ARTS ADMINISTRATION INTERN: The Audience Project / Arts Administration intern works alongside the Audience Project Manager and the Executive Administrator. Through the Audience Project, we create price-subsidized performances on Broadway, Off-Broadway and across the country for our membership base, and supplement them with educational programs that bring viewers intimately into the creative process. Interns are given responsibility for individualized projects in their area of interest. Good phone manners and people skills are a must. Expect experiences ranging from assisting the Executive Director to membership mailings to basic office tasks (data entry, filing etc.) This is an ideal entry-level internship. Commitment: 20 hours/week from August to mid-December.

DIRECTORS PROJECT INTERN: The Drama League Directors Project, the nationally recognized theatre training program for emerging directors, seeks an intern for Fall 2010. Internship involves both administrative and production work in preparation for DirectorFest, our annual Off-Broadway festival. Duties will include clerical needs (answering email, filing, phone calls, managing schedule, coordinating mailings, creating alumni newsletter, etc.), attending rehearsals when needed, attending performances and running box office. Production experience helpful. Commitment: 20 hours/week from October to mid-December.

SPECIAL EVENTS INTERN: The Special Events intern will work on the preparation and execution of The Drama League’s 2011 Benefit Gala on Monday February 7, 2011, as well as two panel discussions during the fall. Duties will include securing donations for and assembling auction items, raffle prizes and gift bags, helping with invitation and informational mailings, data entry, and more. This Intern will also be expected to provide basic office support for the Special Events Manager. Special Event Interns will have the opportunity to gain a greater knowledge of the structure and workings of non-profit arts organizations as well as an understanding of event and fundraiser coordination. Commitment: 20 hours/week from October to mid-December and 20 hours/week from January 3rd to February 7th.

REQUIREMENTS: Excellent people, communication and phone skills A MUST, basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Internet), must be an independent self-starter with the ability to work productively under pressure, often multi-tasking.
