WHO: The Public Theater
SEEKING: Press Manager
RESPONSIBILITIES: Include working with the Director of Communications to develop timelines and strategies for press coverage; pitching news and feature stories to local and national media; writing press releases and publicity materials; managing the external distribution of all press releases; scheduling and overseeing promotional photography and television opportunities with actors, directors, playwrights and staff; escorting artists to interviews and photo shoots as needed; managing photographers and reporters at special events such as opening night celebrations and an annual fundraising gala; managing all press ticket requests in coordination with the box office; greeting critics and distributing press materials at press performances; assembling and editing information for all production Playbills; assisting with the internal distribution of press coverage; maintaining an extensive press and photo archive and press contacts database.
REQUIREMENTS: Candidates should have excellent writing/editing and communication skills, knowledge of New York theater and New York media, and 2 years minimum PR experience in New York City.
