SEEKING: Actors for JUNIE B. JONES

Junie B. Jones: (Belter with soprano mix, to F, 1 1/2 octaves above middle C). 18+ actress to play a 6 year old. First grader extraordinaire! Verve and quirk. MUST have comedic, Improvisational flair, and lots of energy! Wildly precocious, yet completely endearing. 5'4 or smaller.

Mr. Scary: (Bari-tenor to play adult male roles) Junie's first Grade teacher, a warm man. Also plays Gladys Gutzman the queen of snacks, the kids' favorite lunch lady and Junie’s Dad.

Junie’s Mom: (Brassy Soprano with belt), 18+ actress to play multiple roles including Junie’s Mom, exasperated yet understanding. Also plays May, Junie's nemesis, know it all; and Grace.

Lucille: (Brassy Soprano belter,) 18+ ethnic actress to play the ultimate in child Diva. Rich girl. Also plays Jose a Spanish male in Junie's class, and Bobbi Jean Piper. Theatre intends to cast this track of characters as non-Caucasian.

Herb: (tenor), 18+ actor to play Junie's new best friend, cute boy, slightly shy. Also plays Chenille who along with her twin is Lucille's new best friends, a follower. Must endearing and charming.

Sheldon: (tenor/ bari-tenor) 18+ actor to play Junie's classmate, a lactose intolerant nerd. Also plays Camille who along with her twin is Lucille's new best friends, a follower and Lennie, another classmate. Theatre intends to cast this track of characters as non-Caucasian.

REQUIREMENTS: ALL ACTORS WILL BE SIGNED ON AS ASSISTANT STAGE MANAGERS and will be required, as such, to lift scenery and sound equipment during daily load-in and load outs (up to 60 lbs). ALL CHARACTERS MUST SING! This is a musical based on the popular children's' book series, Junie B. Jones. All MUST be versatile with comedic flair. Also must be able to carry tight harmonies.
Seeking a diverse company. Ethnic performers encouraged to submit.

WHEN: Accepting submissions until 11/14. Rehearses in NYC: 12/27/10-1/9/11. Performs: 1/10/11-6/19/11

PAY: $460/week + $53 per diem
