Development Associate- Between the Seas Festival
WHO: Between the Seas is a new performing arts festival that will be organized in NYC for the first time from Aug. 29th to Sept 4th 2011 at the Wild Project theater in the East Village. The festival is produced by Les Manouches theater company in collaboration with scholars, practitioners and festival managers in the US and Europe. The mission of the festival is to promote contemporary performing arts from the Mediterranean and Mediterranean diaspora in New York, foster collaborations between NYC based and Mediterranean based artists and contribute to the study and understanding of Mediterranean identity and culture. The festival will include curated performances by NYC-based artists, performances selected from an open call for submissions and academic sessions with papers from young researchers, graduate students and academic practitioners. SEEKING:We are currently looking for a Development Associate to lead our fundraising campaign. This is an excellent opportunity for a young professional with the ability and interest to design and implement development strategies in the areas of individual and corporate giving and become instrumental in the growth of a young, ambitious organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The selected applicant will be expected to devote approximately 2O hours/week at a flexible schedule and will be paid on commission.
-Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the arts, arts management or related field
-Previous experience in fundraising for the arts
-Excellent computer skills
-Excellent writing, oral and communication skills
– A self starter with the ability to work independently
-A team player with a sense of humor
A special interest in the festival’s mission is desired but not essential.
