MANAGEMENT/STAFF OPPORTUNITIES
Communications and Business Manager The CBM will begin in April and have weekly meetings with the artistic director. The CBM will then move to PA for three months this summer and oversee the marketing and business side of the operations. This is a job for someone who enjoys hard work, problem solving, has excellent people skills, and loves theatre. Housing is provided. Attention to detail, ability to multi task, if you are someone who says “that’s not my job” this is probably not a work environment you will be happy in. All candidates should have excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills, writing and verbal communication, ability to work under pressure and willing to travel.

Company Manager- This position is responsible for overseeing the housing, transportation and general comfort of the cast and crew. Duties include: driving staff and cast to and from rehearsals, creating housing assignments, general office support, picking up dinner, maintaining the kitchen. The right candidate will be organized and punctual and have a good sense of humor. The Company Manager interfaces with everyone at the Playhouse and a lot of the local community and should be a people person. Reports to the CBM and Artistic Director.

Box Office Manager- This position is responsible for running the box office, including a staff of one. Must have excellent phone and people skills. Must be computer savvy, very detail oriented, and able to handle pressure with grace. Candidates with accounting experience preferred. Duties include: answering phone calls and selling tickets, daily reconciliation and box office reports, working with house staff to ensure shows start promptly, phone calls to past season subscribers and ticket purchasers. Reports to the CBM.

Mainstage Stage Manager: This position is responsible for stage managing the 4 shows on the main stage. This position manages the Assistant Stage Manager/Assistant Director in tandem with the Director. Duties include: preproduction work, attending all rehearsals, taking blocking notes, setting props, creating rehearsal schedules, calling the show, running the light board, trouble shooting and thinking ahead, working with the director to realize their vision of the show. The stage manager is the hub of communication and the liaison between the staff and visiting artists. The right candidate will have prior stage management experience, a good sense of humor, be very detail oriented and responsible, enjoy being in a rehearsal process and work well with others. This is a great opportunity to stage manage several big musicals and a play and meet a variety of directors. Reports to the Director of the show and Artistic Director.

Cabaret Stage Manager: This position is responsible for stage managing the 4 shows in the Cabaret. Duties include: preproduction work, attending all rehearsals, taking blocking notes, being on book, setting props, creating rehearsal schedules, calling the show, running the light board, running the sound board, trouble shooting and thinking ahead, working with the director to realize their vision of the show. The stage manager is the hub of communication and the liaison between the staff and visiting artists. The right candidate will have prior stage management experience, a good sense of humor, be very detail oriented and responsible, enjoy being in a rehearsal process and work well with others. This is a great opportunity to stage manage three plays and musical. Reports to the Director of the show and Artistic Director.

Assistant Stage Manager: This position serves as the Assistant Stage Manager on all the main stage productions. The ASM will support both the director and the stage manager during the process. Duties include, but are not limited to: attending all rehearsal, being on book, running lines, working with actors when requested, observing the show from a variety of places in the three quarters house and giving feedback on sight lines. During tech and performances the ASM will be required to run the backstage. The ASM also stage manages the two children’s shows: The Wind in the Willows, Help Wanted: Aliens! These shows are an integral part of Millbrook’s Family Programming. The ASM will also work with the Children’s Camp and assist on the production of Cinderella. Reports to the SM and Director of the show.

DESIGN OPPORTUNITIES
Lighting Designer: This position is responsible for designing the lights for 8 shows throughout the summer. The Lighting Designer manages and works in tandem with the ME/Assistant Lighting Designer. The right candidate will have experience designing both plays and musicals and technical experience with hanging, circuiting and programming. This is not a position for someone who does not want to go up a ladder and help hang their own show. The ME and Lighting Designer are a team that hang, light and cue all the shows. This is a great opportunity for a designer looking to expand their portfolio, meet a wide range of directors and be creative. Mentors the ME/Assistant Lighting Designer on the Children’s shows. Reports to the Director of the show, Artistic Director

Costume Designer: This position is responsible for designing the costumes for 8 shows throughout the summer. The Costume Designer manages a staff of two. The right candidate will have experience designing plays and musicals, excellent time management, the ability to work well with a range of directors as well as designers, and be a team player. Duties include, but are not limited to: Designing the shows, working with-in budget, sewing, maintenance, and laundry. This is a great opportunity for a designer looking to expand their portfolio, meet a wide range of directors and be creative. Mentors the Costume Shop Manager/Assistant Costume Designer on the Kids shows and camp. Reports to the Director of the show and Artistic Director

Sound Designer: This position is responsible for designing the sound for the four plays and running the sound for the four musicals. The right candidate will have experience with sound design and wireless mics, the ability to work well with a range of directors as well as designers, and be a team player. Duties include, but are not limited to: running/mixing shows, maintaining sound equipment, designing the sound for the plays, assisting in the shop. This is a great opportunity for a designer looking to expand their resume and meet a wide range of directors.

Properties Designer: This position is responsible for designing and executing the props for 8 shows throughout the summer. The right candidate will have excellent time management skills, the ability to work well with a range of directors as well as designers, and be a team player. Duties include, but are not limited to: Designing the shows, working with-in budget, properties construction. This is a great opportunity for a designer looking to expand their portfolio, meet a wide range of directors and be creative. Also assists in the shop.

TECHNICAL OPPORTUNITIES

Master Carpenter: This position is responsible for building and realizing the sets for 8 shows throughout the summer. The right candidate will have experience and attention to detail. Painting skills a plus but not mandatory. A candidate with an interest in set design may be eligible to Set Design the shows for the children’s series and camp. Reports to the Technical Director

ME/Assistant Lighting Designer: The right candidate will have experience with an Expressions light board as well as a two scene preset. Duties include: hanging, circuiting and cueing the lights for 8 shows throughout the summer, as well as running the musicals in the Main Stage. A candidate with an interest in lighting design may be eligible to Design the shows for the children’s series and camp. Reports to: Lighting Designer

Assistant Costume Designer/Costume
Shop Manager: This position is responsible for supporting the costume designer. The right candidate will be organized, supportive, hard working, have some sewing experience and the desire to learn and hone your skills, work well with a range of tech staff, and be a team player. Duties include, but are not limited to: Sewing, maintenance, running shows and laundry. A candidate with an interest in costume design may be eligible to design the shows for the children’s series and camp. Reports to: Costume Designer

Costume Intern: This position is responsible for supporting the costume designer and assistant. The right candidate will be organized, supportive, hard working, have some sewing experience and the desire to learn and hone your skills. Duties include, but are not limited to: Sewing, maintenance, running shows and laundry. Perfect for someone who may be interested in costume design and/or a college student. Reports to: Costume Designer

PAY: The salary for these positions ranges from $100 – 250 per week depending on the position and experience level. Millbrook provides shared housing, gym access, and 6 dinners/week to its staff.
