Marketing/Producing Arts Admin Position – Transport Group Theatre Company

SEEKING: OBIE and Drama Desk Award-winning Transport Group Theatre Company seeks a bright, enthusiastic and hard-working individual to work closely with the Marketing & Development Manager and Executive Director to provide marketing and producing support for current and upcoming productions, as well as overall administration support for the company.
RESPONSIBILITIES: This role will have a significant amount of responsibility and will gain hand-on experience and insight into the operations and management of an Off Broadway theatre company and its productions.
REQUIREMENTS: The ideal candidate is a creative, resourceful, and self-motivated grad student, recent grad, or ambitious undergrad with strong organization skills, good writing and speaking skills, the ability to work independently, the ability to prioritize tasks, a willingness to be flexible with work assignments, who pays attention to detail, and is proficient in MS Office. Experience with website maintenance a plus, but not required.
This role provides excellent hands-on experience and training in running a not-for-profit Off-Broadway theatre company and its productions: Lysistrata Jones, a new musical by Douglas Carter Beane and Lewis Flinn opening May 2011; The Patsy by Barry Conners and Jonas by David Greenspan, both starring OBIE winning writer/actor David Greenspan, opening July 2011; pre-production prep for Queen of the Mist, a new musical by Michael John LaChiusa slated for October 2011.
WHEN: There is no salary or stipend for this role but candidate will receive a monthly unlimited metrocard for each month of employment and can receive school credit if applicable. Candidate will obtain excellent references and experience for his/her resume.
There is an opportunity to extend this position into the fall, with the possibility of part-time paid employment at that time.
PAY: Schedule: May 2 – August 19th (schedule flexible to accommodate vacations, school, etc.), minimum 3 days/wk 12-5pm plus evenings and weekends during performances (schedule negotiable as-needed); flexibility to be available more days/wk in June/July is ideal.
