The Tsunami that hit New York City.

Whether you felt it or not, the Tsunami that tragically fell upon our friends in Japan hit our shores as well, just not like you’d think (and for that we can thank the same guy/girl that caused the Tsunami in the first place.)

Tsunami-like tragedies cause ripple effects all over the world, especially in the world of travel and tourism. Some reports are putting the Tsunami’s effect on the NYC tourist trade up to $1 billion dollars.  And will that affect the theater? Most certainly so.

What can we do?

Well, first of all, we can donate to help (I just put up $100 in your names, and you can give whatever you can here.)

Second, we can take a second to remember that singing and dancing cats are great and all, but they are not what’s really important.

And third, we can . . . we can . . . well, nothing.

Unfortunately when events like this occur, there’s not much we can do.  It’s the nature of business that some things are way beyond are control.  (And for all of my fellow Type A Control F’ers out there, I know this is tough one to swallow.)

Snow storms, rain storms, a Presidential motorcade . . . things that are much bigger than we are sometimes get in the way of what we want to do, and the best way to deal with it is the same way you deal with a train at a railroad crossing. Take a big breath, wait for that sucker to pass (because it will), and then just keep on going the way you were going.
