SEEKING: Director of Development

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Development
Fundraising/Benefits
•Work closely with Executive Director to develop and implement fundraising campaign
•Work collaboratively with key staff, take leadership role in the development and implementation of fundraising and friendraising events
•Organize and implement annual benefit, special events, fundraisers, and friendraisers
•Cultivate event sponsorships and donations as needed
•Take on fundraising projects as assigned

Research and Prospecting
•Conduct preliminary funder research
•Cultivate new local, state, and national foundation and corporation funding opportunities
•Identify appropriate funding opportunities in relation to Oddfellows’ programming
•Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and data on the broader foundation and corporate opportunities

Writing and Communications
•Author and edit compelling fundraising communications that accurately convey and increase interest in Oddfellows Playhouse’s vision, mission, strategic priorities, and programmatic goals
•Produce high-quality written communication for funders at all stages of the development process, including proposals for foundation and corporate prospects, mid-year and final reports, letters of intent, and individual correspondence
•Compile data and supplementary materials (such as financial reports, statistics on regional programmatic initiatives, etc.) for reports, proposals
•Organize and edit annual appeal letters
•Craft specialized documents that address unique donor interests, motivations, and/or barriers

Stewardship
•Collaborate with key external partners to ensure effective execution of programs
•Ensure donors receive documentation related to all gifts, including thank you notes, tax acknowledgements, grant agreements, and invoices
•Cultivate and steward Board members
•Plan and execute various touch points throughout the fiscal year

Administrative/Development
•Identify opportunities to increase the efficiency and organization of the development team
•Evaluate & populate grants plan schedule to increase proposal potential
•Manage the deadline-driven calendar of all development activities related to corporations and foundations, including: submitting all grant materials and reports on time, and maintaining contact to ensure optimal customer service for all funders
•Maintain accurate and up-to-date corporate and foundation records
•Collect information and data necessary for grant reports and updating proposals and supplementary materials
•Analyze data on past giving patterns to identify trends and best practices
•Assist with annual reporting to Board of Directors, community partners, funders and other stakeholders
•Participate in regular strategic planning and cross-functional staff meetings

Constituency Development/Outreach
•Compose and edit biannual newsletter to expand interest in Oddfellows programming, raise additional funds, and grow constituency
•Coordinate annual mailing list & e-group campaigns to increase Oddfellows constituent base
•Increase Oddfellows visibility through partnership programs
•Continuously promote, grow, and evolve partnership programs

REQUIREMENTS:

•Bachelor’s degree.
•3-5 years experience and track record of success in non-profit fundraising. Arts or theater background a plus.
•Demonstrated ability to work effectively with volunteers and diverse constituencies.
•Excellent listening, oral and written communication skills.
•Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
•Knowledge of and facility with computer software.
