Performers for How to Fight Like A Girl – Manhattan Theatre Mission

WHO:
Manhattan Theatre Mission – How to Fight Like A Girl

SEEKING:
Up to 8 performers to participate in a benefit concert for Angela Gant, an award winning playwright, who has survived a brain tumor, is openly gay and was recently brutally attacked while walking her dogs. MTM is hoping to assist with her soaring medical bills, as well as promote a message of love, empowerment, respect and hope. Rather than dwelling on the tragedy, we are seeking diverse musical acts which fit this theme.

How to Fight Like a Girl will be a comical yet powerful "How to" presentation featuring contemporary, classic and original songs. The production will be narrated by a very strong personality (preferably a drag queen).

We are specifically seeking prepared songs which deal with themes mentioned above, as well as a well balanced cast of diverse performers – male/female, gay/straight. Rehearsals will be very limited based on cast availability.

Additionally, we are seeking a volunteer pianist for 1 rehearsal and the performance only. An accompanist will be provided at the audition and for rehearsals.

WHEN:
The benefit will take place on Friday, May 27th at 9:30pm at the Duplex Cabaret Theatre.

Auditions are by appointment only on Friday, May 6th from 7-9pm.

Prior to auditioning, please take a moment watch this video about Ms. Gant and the vicious act of violence she endured.
