Fall Literary Internship
Eugene O’Neill Theater Center
We offer our interns:
Housing, meals, $150/week stipend, the opportunity to attend select classes of the O’Neill’s National Theater Institute, and an invaluable opportunity to work with professional theater artists from around the globe.
Literary Intern Responsibilities:
The intern will provide assistance in the submission/selection processes for each of the O’Neill’s summer conferences under the direction of the Literary Manager. This includes managing the submission database, mailing
packages of scripts, and other administrative duties. Activities also will include updating and administering the on-campus libraries; serve as reader for submitted scripts for National Playwrights Conference and National Music Theater Conference; constant email communication with readers, authors, artists, educators, and administrators; and submitting reader coverage to the artistic team. Interns work up to six days/week and share “on-call” duties for the National Theater Institute. These include, but are not limited to: driving responsibilities, attendance at special events, and being on response in case of emergencies. On-call shifts will include evenings and weekends on a rotating basis.
Availability from September 4th, 2012 through December 21st, 2012; a strong background in theater history, an astute interest in contemporary theater; strong leadership skills; strong written and verbal communication skills; a
highly organized, curious mind; and ample motivation and stamina. Outstanding writing skills essential as is strong working knowledge of Word and Excel; comfort with computer databases and programs is essential. Applicants must also have a valid driver’s license.
