POSITION: Special Events Apprentice

DESCRIPTION: Roundabout Theatre Company is now seeking a Special Events Apprentice for the 2013-2014 season.

Roundabout’s Apprentice program provides hands-on learning opportunities for undergraduate students as well as for graduate students and post-baccalaureates interested in theatre administration careers through full time Season-long apprenticeships and full and part-time summer internships.

The Special Events Apprenticeship will run from September 2013-May or June 2014. Apprentices will have the opportunity to see Roundabout complete an entire season while sharing in the daily organizational and artistic operations and engage in long-term projects with increasing responsibility. They will also participate in a collaborative project with all apprentices, and attend regular seminars with members of Roundabout’s senior staff.

SPECIAL EVENTS APPRENTICE
The special events apprentice will work toward taking RSVPs for events, organizing volunteers, and coordinating the online auction for the annual Gala fundraiser. The apprenticeship will culminate with the experience of being the main point person for a Roundabout playreading. Responsibilities include:
• Assisting with the planning and coordination of all special events, including Gala fundraisers, opening night parties, donor dinners, institutional events, and playreadings.
• Organizing mailings
• Drafting correspondence
• Updating records and inventory
• Creation of event timelines
Qualifications: Bachelors degree in a related field. The ideal candidate for this position will be an outgoing, incredibly detail-oriented individual with the ability to multitask. Strong computer and phone skills are a must. Previous experience with Tessitura, event execution, and mail merge is a plus.
