The Sunday Giveaway: Two Tickets to The ModRock Musical in Hollywood!
Alright, Californians, this is a Giveaway just for you.
There’s a new musical groovin’ and shakin’ at the El Portal Theater in H-town, and it’s called ModROCK . . . and it yes, it’s a jukebox musical . . . but it features some music that we’ve yet to hear on the stage. MR has tunes by The Kinks, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Hermans Hermits and more 60s-a-licious tunesters.
And in the style of this post, they already have a CD available for purchase online, before they’ve even raised their first curtain.
The show sounds fun right?
One of you will tell us exactly how fun when you go for free!
Here’s how to win:
Comment below with your favorite “Modrock” song (any British song that premiered in the 60s will suffice), and you’re eligible. I’ll pick a winner at random this week.

“Not Fade Away” by the Rolling Stonesm a great R&B track… Still miss Brian Jones.
Puff. Boom! -the yardbirds
Twist and Shout – The Beatles – no doubt!!
THE HOLLIES – He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother
Surprisingly excellent and modern sounding:
Henry the VIII by Herman’s Hermits
“Something” by The Beatles
Mrs. Brown You’ve Got a Lovely Daughter– Herman’s Hermits.
It actually works as a show tune.
Ferry, Cross The Mersey (Gerry and the Pacemakers)
paperback writer by the beatle
Peter Noone sang “Leaning on a Lampost” from “Me and My Girl” with his band Herman’s Hermits….and it was a big hit!! No surprise then that he would go on to be one of the great Frederic’s in the Public Theatre’s famous revival of “The Pirates of Penzance,” due to be revived in the park this summer!!
We Gotta Get Out of This Place – The Animals
Willow Weep For Me
“Eleanor Rigby” and “Penny Lane” by the Beatles…I remember how exciting it was when the Beatles arrived. My sisters and I were wowed by the new sounds. The melodies/words that stay in one’s mind forever. They make me recall a whole phase of my life.
Tin Soldier by Small Faces
That’s the jam!
Ferry cross the Mersey by Gerry and the Pacemakers
Don’t let the sun catch you crying by Gerry and the Pacemakers
If I get the tickets I would have to say “I’m into Something Good” Another of Herman’s Hermits Hits
