POSITION: Marketing and Box Office Manager

DESCRIPTION: The Ensemble Studio Theatre (EST; website is at www.ensemblestudiotheatre.org), a non-profit developmental theater ensemble located in midtown west, Manhattan, seeks a dynamic and career-oriented Marketing and Box Office Manager to join our dedicated staff and support our ensemble’s busy production schedule. The position is available immediately and is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate: to be responsible and motivated, to increase the public profile of this developmental theatre company in collaboration with our staff, ensemble members and board of directors.

Marketing Responsibilities:
– Plan and manage marketing campaigns for a busy schedule that includes play readings, workshops, new play productions and new play festivals
– Plan and manage EST’s institutional marketing and community engagement efforts, including management and growth of EST’s social media presence and online community on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest
– Manage EST’s ensemble artist communications
– Collaborate with EST Board marketing committee on marketing, position and branding strategy
– Hire and work with graphic designer/s and artistic staff to create production art and marketing materials
– Design/create all production programs and content
– Oversee seasonal production program advertising sales
– Oversee production poster/postcard printing and distribution
– Design and blast regular email updates
– Maintain and update Constant Contact audience email database
– Maintain/oversee Ovationtix database in collaboration with development staff
– Produce/manage production-related video and photo content, including artist interviews
– Handle media buys and create/deliver production ad materials
– Work with press rep and senior staff on press releases and media events
– Manage production and institutional marketing budgets
– Represent EST at public events and at company performances
– Create, oversee and manage EST blog postings, including guest artist postings
– Update EST website and maintain an engaged social media presence that reflects the active and impactful EST artistic work and community
– Oversee marketing data analysis and reporting, including web analytics
– Plan and oversee special events, including opening nights and talkbacks/receptions
– Collaborate in implementing a customer relations and hospitality ethic for the theatre
– Recruit, train and manage marketing interns and volunteers

Box Office Responsibilities:
– Create and update OvationTix events and performance calendar
– Receive and respond to emailed reservations and production-related questions
– Cultivate group sales and serve as point-of-contact for group leaders
– Recruit, train and manage/train box office staff and interns
– Provide regular box office reports and advance sales summaries

The Marketing/Box Office Manager reports to the Executive Director overall, and collaborates with Artistic staff for all production marketing materials and eblasts.

Skills and Qualifications:
– Recommended 2-3 years experience in NYC non-profit theater marketing, or equivalent creative work in marketing, especially internet and mobile marketing
– Strong experience in data-driven marketing analysis and reporting
– Familiarity with NYC performing arts media outlets
– Excellent communications, social media, interpersonal, writing and analytical skills
– Ability to juggle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
– Experience with Constant Contact, website management, OvationTix

This is a full-time salaried position. Following a trial period, the employee shares in a staff health insurance plan.
