POSITION: Artistic Director

DESCRIPTION: The Pearl, a New York City- based classical theatre company in its 30th season, seeks an Artistic Director to serve as the organization’s artistic leader. The AD oversees all of the company’s operations, including productions, educational programs, finances, and staff functions. S/he reports to the Board of Trustees and is a member of the board.

Responsibilities:

•Develop an artistic plan for the company that realizes The Pearl’s vision and mission
•Expand the company’s visibility and attract new and diverse audience
•Support and develop the resident company of actors
•Play a key role in development activities
•Serve as the primary public face of The Pearl to audiences, donors, and media
•Take principal responsibility for choosing each season’s plays and artistic teams
•Oversee the development/management of all budgets
•Direct two plays for the company annually
Qualifications:
•Stature as a theater artist of consequence in the field
•Passionate commitment to and knowledge of the classical repertory and the value of a resident company
•Demonstrated organizational leadership experience
