What should I wear to a Broadway show?

For non-experienced theatergoers, the most stressful part about going to a Broadway show isn’t if they will make it to the theater on time. . . or if they will forget their tickets. . .  or if their child will be crying during the performance. . .

The thing people worry about most is what to wear to the theater.

In every Broadway audience, you’ll see a range of outfits. There will be the older couple dressed to the nines, the younger couple looking like they just came from the gym, the single woman dressed like she just came from work, and the guy in cargo shorts and a Grateful Dead t-shirt (in addition to many, many other combinations). In the summer, you’ll see tourists wearing shorts, t-shirts, and visors. Oh yeah. . . there might also be a child in pajamas.

Now, there’s nothing wrong with being comfortable. You are sitting in the same place for upwards of two and a half hours.

So. . .  be comfortable. Dress like you’re going on a first date. Not too fancy-shmancy, but not too comfortable.

But whatever you are wearing, just come.
