POSITION: Managing Director
DESCRIPTION: About the Position:
The Managing Director (MD) works with the Executive Artistic Director to manage the day-to-day financial operations of the organization. The MD will oversee internal functions and shared services, including developing and maintaining financial models and budgets, monitoring cash flow, accounts receivable, paying bills, and approving expenditures. Success in this role will initially require creativity and adaptability in redefining the appropriate operational model for the organization as it undergoes a significant strategic evolution. Collaboration and ability to motivate their team will be key success factors for this individual in the longer term. Prior managerial experience and strong familiarity with marketing, development and finance are strongly preferred.CAP21 is a Theatre Company and Musical Theatre Conservatory.
• Work with the Executive Artistic Director and Artistic Director to develop organizational goals, objectives, implementation strategies, and timelines
• Collaborate with the Executive Artistic Director and Artistic Director on the organization’s long range financial plan and corresponding budgets
• Oversee accounting and financial management, including payables and expense recording, revenue receipts, cash flow, bank account reconciliations, petty cash, etc.
• Monitor annual operating budget as well as production budgets for individual projects
• Prepare monthly, yearly, quarterly, and other financial and operating reports for the Executive Artistic Director, Finance Committee, and the Board of Directors
• Work with auditors to ensure efficient and accurate annual audit
• Evaluate and select vendors, and negotiate contracts for employee benefits, insurances, maintenance, and other services as needed
• Oversee the administration of employee payroll and benefits; maintain and update personnel policies and procedures
• Ensure that CAP21 remains in legal compliance as it relates to labor and employment laws, accounting, finance, and donor requirements

Professional Experience Qualifications:
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience performing finance, marketing, development, and operations for a non-profit and/or arts organization
• Successful track record managing a team with various working styles and objectives
• Experience in operational, financial, and marketing functions
• Prior experience in theater preferred
Education: Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree required.
