Broadway Grosses* w/e 3/5/2017 – Down in Grosses, Up in Attendance!

Greetings Gross Fans!

Would you look at that? Our grosses were down last week, but attendance was up.  How did this happen?  Isn’t the trend usually the opposite?

Credit this reversal to last Tuesday’s Kid’s Night on Broadway, the one-night 2-for-1 promotion for adults who bring kids to one of the many Broadway shows who participate.
A helicopter landed on Broadway last week, in the form of Miss Saigon, which is on its way to being a higher grosser and Sunday in the Park‘s limited engagement and high profile star–Jake Gyllenhaal–helped propel the show above the $1 million mark, in the more intimate Hudson Theater (what great advertising for the venue – the first show in residence demonstrates it can gross more than a million with less than 1,000 seats).
More shows will be opening in the next few weeks, which means our numbers should climb.
But will they?
