ALERT: Come to a rehearsal of Gettin’ The Band Back Together.

Here’s the thing . . .

The usual folks who attend run-thrus before a show packs up from the rehearsal hall and heads to tech are designers, marketers, staff members, etc.

Most of these people have seen the show before, making it hard for a creative team to get a real sense of how the show is playing.

That makes it difficult to assess what needs tweaking, changing, cutting, or more importantly, what doesn’t.  (A joke, lyric, dance step may not get a response in front of folks who have seen the show before, for obvious reasons.)

And the last run-thrus in a rehearsal hall could absolutely be the most important of all, because it’s the last time to tinker and tweak before tech (hard to institute changes when scenery is moving around you and lights are focusing on you).

That’s why I decided to open up our last two run-thrus in the rehearsal room for Gettin’ The Band Back Together to the public!  Next Friday and Saturday, up to 100 real, live theatergoers (maybe even you) will get to sit with me and the rest of the team and see what we’ve been cookin’ up.  Your response will help us put the frosting on this cake of a show since we’re now less than a month before previews.

Fun, right?

And I figure, by doing this (and why you should consider something similar on your shows), I’ll get at least one or TWO previews ahead in terms of any changes we want to make.  And that’s priceless.

So . . . want to come?

Here’s a link to sign up to enter to be one of the few, the proud . . . the test audience.

I look forward to seeing you there.
