A year later. A recommitment to the years ahead
Today, the country marks the one year anniversary of one of the most tragic events in its history . . . the murder of George Floyd.
It forced a lot of eyes wide open, including my own. Before that hateful and hate-filled day, I thought I understood more about the issues of racism in this country than so many. How could I not? I’m a progressive. I’m the son of an Indian immigrant. Two of my shows won diversity awards.
Well, what that murder and the events that followed taught me was that I didn’t know @#$%.
I wrote a blog after those events about my desire not for a reopening of Broadway but an opening. And it is, I made a commitment to listen more, to learn more, and to act more.
On this anniversary, I recommit to those actions by taking a break from my usual blogs about the biz point you all to that original blog.
Click here to read my commitment. And I hope you’ll join me in it.
