This Sunday’s Giveaway: 2 tickets to see the star with “magic to do”.

I remember hearing that Ben Vereen was in a car accident in the early 90s.  People were amazed that he survived, and no one gave him much hope for leading a normal life again, never mind leading the life of an entertainer.

Well, they forgot that they were dealing with the one and only Leading Player, Ben Vereen,

Ben battled all the way back after that tragic accident, and went on to do a whole ton of stuff, including a turn in Wicked.

Since that wasn’t enough for the indefatigable star, now he’s doing a one-man show celebrating Broadway, Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis, Jr., which he’ll perform on Friday, February 18th at Town Hall here in NYC.

And I’ve got two tickets to see this Tony Award winning Broadway legend for one of you!

Here’s how to enter this week’s Sunday Giveaway:

Jump up and down and scream, “I love Ben Vereen!”  The person I hear first from my office on 49th St. wins.

Hehe. Sorry, bad blogger humor.

This week we’re going to make you work a little harder.  It’s Ben Vereen trivia time!  To win the tickets, you’ll need the answer to this question:

Q:  What character did Ben play on TV’s Fresh Prince of Bel Air?

Got it?  No?  Don’t worry, gheating (which is my word for google-cheating) is allowed.  Get that answer however you can and email it here.  We’ll choose the winner randomly for one of the readers who gets that answer right.

Enter today!

Last Sunday’s Giveaway Winner: Who won tix to Catch Me If You Can?

Wowza, there is obviously some serious appetite out there for Catch Me, because we had a whole ton o’ entries.

But there can only be one winner, and the reader going to see Catch Me If You Can on Broadway is . . . CAESAR SAMAYOA

Congratulations CAESAR!!!

(When the name came up as our winner, it sounded familar.  So I checked his FB page and realized that Caesar is an actor in our fair city, and is actually featured in the upcoming Sister Act on Broadway!  So double congrats to Caesar!)

Caesar, email me and I’ll give you the Catch Me hook-up.  And if it conflicts with your performance schedule at Sister Act, you best give it to someone worthwhile, or there are going to be a few hundred of my readers chasing after your on-Broadway butt!  😉

For those of you who didn’t win, you can always buy tickets.

And you can always enter next week’s contest!  Stay tuned!

This Sunday’s Giveaway: 2 Tickets to CATCH ME IF YOU CAN!

I’ll never forget when Hairspray first came into town.  As is the case with most Broadway musicals, a few freebies were given to some of the Broadway staffers in town.

And then . . .

A bunch of those freebies were taken back.

Why?  Because the word-of-mouth kicked in so fast, they started selling to the back wall of the Neil Simon in the first week of previews!

Well, Catch Me If You Can, which opens on April 10th, is reuniting that very same Hairspray creative team again (Terrence McNally, Marc Shaiman, Scott Whitman, Jerry Mitchell and Jack O’Brien), so I wouldn’t be surprised if the word-of-mouth on this one spread faster than soft butter on a hot roll.

And Catch Me is produced by two of my faves, Margo Lion (who besides producing big Broadway musicals, also serves on the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities), and my former boss and the Producer of Thoroughly Modern Millie, Movin’ Out, Legally Blonde and more, Hal Luftig.

The cast?  Norbert “I helped save Ken when I filled in for the Mercury-Laden Putz known as Piven on Speed-the-Plow” Butz, and’s Hottest Guy on Broadway 2009, Aaron Tveit.

And the audience to a future performance features . . . one of you!

Yep, we’ve got two tickets to give away to see Catch Me (as always, some restrictions may apply.)

Here’s how you enter:

On the left side of my blog towards the top, underneath the “Become a Fan” header, there’s a Facebook Like button.  Click it.  Note to Email and Reader subscribers, you have to visit to see it)

The winner of the Catch Me If You Can tickets will be chosen from one of the “Likers”.

Good luck all!  Winner announced next Sunday!  Like away!
